Art Huichol
The word wixarika that "fortune-teller" means, is used to designate to the huicholes, one of the indigenous most important groups in Mexico that inhabits the states of Jalisco, Nayarit, Zacatecas and Durango.

Traditionally, the mara'kames (priests, faith healers, chamanes) believes masterful works of art called nierika that are cosmogonic representations worked with an admirable patience and an almost divine perfection almost divine.
Nierika is the "where to see", the vision of the secret world of the ancestors and, to the same tismpo, a mirror that allows them to contemplate its true face. It is a door among the worlds, they are the offerings and it is the sun. |
The nierikate (nierika plural) is one of the alive few expressions of art modern native of the world, since the huicholes is one of the indigenous few groups of Mexico that has been able to conserve their traditions, but that at the same time it looks for artistic new forms to perpetuate their vision of the world.
