Artisan rug 100% wool woven by hand, made by hands of craftsmen of the zone of Teotitlan of the Valley in Oaxaca, Mexico
Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca is known particularly for it's colorful, hand-woven rugs. Teotitlán del Valle is located an easy 28 kilometers from Oaxaca City on Highway 190. The road passes through Santa María del Tule, home of the giant Tule (or Ahuehuete) tree, and continues eastward down the Tlacolula Valley through extensions of waving cornfields with the Oaxaca mountains in the distance.
Teotitlan del Valle is most known for it's beautiful, woven woolen rugs and naturally-dyed textiles, as well as elaborately decorated hand-made candles made of beeswax, shiny metallic paper and paper flowers.
In the town center lies the Church of the Precious Blood of Christ, shown in these photos undergoing restoration of the bell towers. Erected on a site believed to be a ceremonial center of the Zapotecs, the Church structure rises from among the ancient, crumbling stones of the ruins.
Below the Church is a textiles market with numerous stands displaying rugs, serapes and rebozos (shawls). The town itself is riddled with artisan's locales and houses where you can see them at work on their looms and purchase their wares.
In front of the market lies the Balaa Xtee Guech gulal Museum (meaning Shadow, or House, of the Ancient People) where, apart from exhibits of local customs and archeological pieces, the process of rug making is demonstrated. The museum was formed as a community effort with the aim of creating a place where the richness of it's culture could be preserved and disseminated. It was inaugurated in December of 1994 and opened its doors to the public in February of 1995.

MEANING OF THE SYMBOLS IN THE TEXTILE ONES
GREEK: CYCLE OF LIFE OF A COMMON PERSON
|

These geometric figures represent the cycle of the agreement life with the cosmovisión zapoteca.
The steps are the stages of the human being's life: the first step represents the base or beginning and it begins from the conception until the birth; the second he/she is related with the stage of the childhood; the third correspond the youth, and the room is a stage where the individual has matured in all the aspects, this is represented by the horizontal line.
Then a decline of the energy of the life comes for what the line goes down and with it is represented it the age and the death.
Finally it is stabilized with another horizontal line that represents the life in the other world.
The same symbol is observed in the fretworks that decorate the palace of Mitla what represents the cosmogonic duality of the zapotecas: the high relief, illuminated by the sun, is associated with the tonal one; and the bas-relief, in dimness, associates with the nagual.
The continuity of the symbols indicates that the spirit that he/she inhabited the person is born again or it "reincarnates" in the body of another.
In the mats the fretworks are of different colors because in each person that reincarnates the spirit, it is different and there is always a brilliant color: the tonal one; and a dark color: the nagual.
CYCLE OF LIFE OF A WARRIOR
A warrior is not as the common vision. He goes further on in energy terms, of being able to personal, and of maturity.
The steps are not limited to explain stages of the life, they are levels that the warrior has to reach and to understand, in each level he learns how to use his energy well, it becomes aware of his death that is to alone a distance arm and he knows that in any instant he will play it and it will take it to him I get, but not without before to see his it finishes dance on the earth: "the dance of the feather."
After the death the warrior ascends to the "sky" to live with the gods, there he will be able to rest and to recover energies, later warrior's spirit is embodied in another human being again.
CYCLE OF LIFE OF A CHAMAN

The chaman is a man that has reached the wisdom without knowing that he/she has it, a man that has to be able to and it becomes humble that lives to the maximum knowing that this it can be she it finishes puff of air that breathes in this world, a man that is known itself, he/she knows that it is left in two: in their tonal one and their nagual.
This man knows all the levels of the energy and of conscience, the cycles of the universe, the duality of the energy and it is as well as he carries out incredible such acts as becoming animals (tiger, eagle, snake, etc) or in wind and light.
He/she knows the past, present and future because it has eliminated the barrier of the time. When he/she dies, it ascends in the sun giver of life, he/she is renewed in god it stops later reincarnate their chamán spirit again.
EYE OF GOD

Symbol inspired by the skin of Quetzalcoatl whose name comes from the language nahuatl and it is translated as feathered" "snake.
In zapoteco he/she is known with the name of WIXEPECOCHA. The mentioned snake is the bell snake because in her skin figures are observed in diamond form.
The symmetry of this diamond represents the four energy types that there is in the human body: up of the navel, the energy quetzalli of the bird; below, the energy coatl of the snake; to the right side of our navel, the tonal one is; and to the left the nagual.
The diamond also looks like a pyramid reflected horizontally, that which means that the reality that we see is a mirror where is reflected what there is in our interior.
It is not of being missed that outside of skin of the bell snake of where the manufacturers and authors of the pyramids of Mount inspired called Alban HUIJAZOO "defense" by language zapoteca
The figure of the center of the god eye is known as butterfly, which is associated with the moth that takes the powder of the wisdom that arrives in its wings slow and gradually, as the powder or as the soft dew.
